Brazilian Kite Making Camp ● Felix Borges ● June 10-14 ● Rising 3rd grade and up ● $35 supply fee ($14 kite reel – optional) paid directly to Felix Borges

Watching your very own hand make kites soar into the sky for the first time is an extremely rewarding experience and Brazil has one of the strongest traditions in kite building and flying. Join Felix, a native of Brazil, as he shares his passion for a hobby passed down to him from generation to generation. Campers will learn how to build and fly their own handmade kites, starting with the simplest style and progressing to more complicated kites as the week continues. The kites will be built using special bamboo frames, threat and various lightweight papers. Not only will students build the kites but they will also create a jig for the most popular kite style so campers can build more on their own. Students will learn the basic principles to get their kite off the ground and to the sky. If the weather permits, students will try their kites at a nearby location. If the weather isn’t cooperative during camp week, Felix is an enthusiastic kite flyer and will let students know where and when he will fly at various times over the summer to help them with their skills.

Work and Play Camp ● Evy Royce ● June 17-21 / June 24-28 ● 4 years old to Rising 3rd grade

We will weave our work and play with songs, verses, games, play and stories. All children will need to bring a sheet, blanket, pillow, sun hat, bug repellant and a change of clothes; on Fridays a towel and swimsuit for “get wet day” as we play with water and the sprinkler.

Camp Click Away ● Natosha Cundiff ● June 17-21 ● Rising 6th grade and up ● $15 supply fee paid directly to Natosha Cundiff

Aspiring photographers, from beginner to experienced, will unite in this camp to dive deeper into the art of photography. We’ll become familiar with some well-known photographers and discover what about their work draws us in. Students will learn the basics and some general photography guidelines through games and challenges. Advanced students will learn to break those rules to find their style in their work and go deeper into advanced settings. We’ll do lots of shooting, because the best method for growth is practice, practice, practice and getting familiar with their camera. Participants will have the opportunity to learn some light editing skills and be able to edit 2-3 of their own photos. Each student will be awarded one spot in the 2018-19 yearbook. Camera requirements: A camera with some manual settings is preferable. A DSLR camera is ideal. Contact me if you have any questions about whether your camera will work for camp; I’m a believer in using what you have available.
